Katie Haney — Pastor (Retired June 15, 2015)             


Katie Haney has been the pastor at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church for six years. This is her first pastorate following graduation from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary in May, 2002 with a Masters of Divinity degree. Prior to attending seminary, Katie was a business recruiter for the Spokane Economic Development Council. In that capacity, she worked with companies throughout the country in their expansion and relocation efforts. Previously, she served as marketing director for a computer software company specializing in medical practice management systems. In addition to being active as a lay leader in her church, Katie has worked as a dental assistant, real estate appraiser, ski instructor, marketing assistant, medical receptionist and coordinator of volunteers. She holds a BS in Forestry from Washington State University and has worked for the U.S. Forest Service and the Forestry Department of the Pierce County Assessor’s Office. Katie enjoys outdoor activities such as running, water and snow skiing, kayaking, tennis, biking, boating, and camping, as well as indoor hobbies like playing the piano, reading, writing, card stamping, cooking, sewing and watching good movies. Katie and her husband Bob have three children and six grandchildren, who also provide ample diversions.

Joan Blakley — Secretary   

Secretary for the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church since April 13th 2015. She has a degree in Business Management and Accounting from Trend Business College and recently went back to school to update her computer skills receiving a certificate in all Microsoft Office Application.  Joan has had prior experience working for:  WSU extension office in Yakima, Union Gospel Mission, Washington State Fruit Commission and U.S Cellular as well as Motel and Apartment Management in Walla Walla.  Joan has a heart for the homeless where she has received an award from the Yakima Herald for her work with the homeless in the Yakima Valley. She was a long time member of the West Valley Missionary Church where she held many positions most recently treasurer.  Joan in a mother of one wonderful son David and she enjoys the outdoors, travel, antiques, cooking, swimming, gardening and is an avid animal lover. She is also looking forward to spoiling grandbabies someday.

Born and raised in Packwood Washington where her father was also born and grandparents homesteaded the area gives her the great appreciation she has for the beauty of Washington State.
